A Nasarawa State High Court has ordered the detention of an acclaimed gospel singer, Timilehin Ajayi, who was caught with the severed head of a National Youth Service Corps member, Salome Adaidu.
The Nasarawa State Police Command made this known on X this Friday.
According to the statement, the suspect was charged in court today pending his formal arraignment.
Recall that Ajayi was arrested by members of a church for allegedly killing and dismembering Adaidu for suspected ritual purposes.
The church’s Bible Study Teacher and General Secretary, Caleb Umaru, said a member noticed Ajayi acting suspiciously near a river and alerted others when Ajayi threw a bag into the river. The bag was later retrieved and found to contain his Adaidu’s head.
Ajayi admitted to committing the crime but said he has no regret for his action. He said the deceased Adaidu, who was his girlfriend, was cheating on him, which prompted him to kill her.
Meanwhile, members of the deceased family had claimed that their sister was never in a relationship with the suspect and that, contrary to reports that Adaidu had visited the suspect, she was allegedly kidnapped.
