An Ogun State High Court sitting in Abeokuta has sentenced 22-year-old Jamiu Malomo to death by hanging for stabbing an alleged sex worker, Asisat Akande.
Deputy Director Public Prosecution, A.M. Adebayo, said the convict committed the offence on July 18, 2021, at about 9:30 pm at Ori-Apata community, Oke-Aregba, Abeokuta.
Adebayo said the convict picked up Asisat Akande, who was a sex worker, from the 3AD bar in the Panseke area and took her to his house for sexual pleasure.
He added, “After having carnal knowledge of the deceased, she demanded N10,000, which was their agreement, but Malomo refused to give her the complete money, saying he had N8,000.
The situation led to an argument between him and the deceased, which made the convict bring out a knife from his pocket and stab her on the neck.The stab resulted in the instant death of the deceased”, he said.
Adebayo noted that Malomo was arrested by the police at the 3AD club in Panseke, where he wanted to pick another girl for sexual pleasure.
Malomo was convicted on a one-count charge of murder by Justice O. Ogunfowora.
Ogunfowora said the prosecution proved the case beyond reasonable doubt and that the 22-year-old was guilty as charged.
