Security Operatives Eliminate Three Suspected Robbers in Abuja Midnight Raid

Operatives from the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, and local vigilante groups have neutralised three suspected armed robbers in Abuja during a midnight operation.

FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, revealed it in a statement this Thursday, saying that the operation followed a distress call received on February 12 at around 11:50 p.m. regarding an ongoing robbery in Filin-Dabo village.

Acting upon intelligence, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Dei-Dei ‘A’ Division mobilised officers from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the 102 Battalion of the Guards Brigade, the Civilian Joint Task Force, and local vigilantes to the scene.

Upon sighting security operatives, the six-man gangs attempted to escape into nearby bushes, but were overpowered in a fierce gun battle.

Three of the suspects, who sustained gunshot wounds, were rushed to Kubwa General Hospital, where they were confirmed dead, while the remaining three are receiving medical treatment.

The police recovered an AK-47 rifle, three magazines, 19 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, two locally made pistols, two knives, a taser, a mobile phone, charms, and dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp from the suspects.

FCT Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, commended the security team for their swift action, saying that the operation served as a strong warning to criminals. He also praised residents of Filin-Dabo for providing timely intelligence and urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
