
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has sanctioned the personnel involved in a recent altercation with police officers in Warri, Delta State.
NAF spokesperson, Air Vice Marshal Olusola Akinboyewa, revealed that the injured police officers are receiving medical attention while the personnel are undergoing disciplinary procedures in line with military regulations.
He confirmed that the unit commander had engaged with Delta State Police authorities to resolve the matter and enhance inter-agency cooperation.
Delta State Police spokesperson, Bright Edafe, confirmed that the clash occurred when police officers were transporting a suspect caught with illegal substances, including codeine, Indian hemp, and Canadian loud.
Note that a viral video of the incident, which surfaced on social media on Wednesday, captured a confrontation between NAF personnel and police officers.
Upon reaching a checkpoint, NAF personnel—allegedly familiar with the suspect—intercepted the police and demanded his release.
The NAF reiterated its commitment to upholding high standards of conduct and strengthening relationships with sister agencies to ensure national security and public safety.
