Anambra State police operatives have intensified patrols across major roads and streets in a renewed effort to end the Monday sit-at-home order that has disrupted economic activities in the state.
While speaking to newsmen, the Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu commended Anambra residents for rejecting the sit-at-home directive and urged them to continue raising their voices against acts that threaten national unity.
Orutugu said the enhanced security measures include increased patrols and surveillance across key locations, strategic deployment of personnel and resources, intelligence gathering and community engagement to improve cooperation, and proactive measures to prevent and swiftly respond to criminal activities.
He assured that the police would continue reviewing security strategies, including both force-based and diplomatic approaches, to stabilize security in the state.
He said the goal is to deter criminal activities, build trust with the community and provide a secure atmosphere for economic and social growth to thrive.
Orutugu commended the state government for launching ‘Operation Udo-Ga-Chi’ and for collectively condemning any act that threatens national peace.
Despite the heavy security presence, reports indicate that economic activities in Anambra were still largely paralysed on Monday.
