Suspected Drug Addict Arrested for Fatally Stabbing Lagos Cleric A 30-year-old man, identified only as David, has been apprehended by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly stabbing a cleric, Akeem Ojiwusi, to death in the Abule Egba area of the state. According to reports from Punch, the clergyman was attacked inside his house by the drug addict, who is known for causing trouble when under the influence of intoxicants. A relative of the deceased, named Sefiu, revealed that the cleric had sent him to buy medication as he was feeling unwell. On his way to the pharmacy, Sefiu heard his uncle’s cries for help. “He (Ojiwusi) sent me to buy some drugs for him, and when I was going towards the gate, I heard a scream from our compound and ran back and saw David stabbing my uncle,” Sefiu said. Another friend of the deceased, Adeleke Sulaimon, stated that neighbors who witnessed the incident informed him that Ojiwusi pleaded for assistance while they rushed him to the hospital. “He was saying, ‘I don’t want to die’ and shouting ‘Allah, Allah’,” Sulaimon recounted. Ojiwusi’s phone is currently in the possession of David’s mother, who has since gone into hiding. Kayode Abdulrasheed, a relative of the deceased, disclosed that David was a neighbor of his late cousin. Abdulrasheed received the tragic news of his cousin’s demise while at home. He learned that David, who is known to smoke a drug called ‘Colorado’ that causes erratic behavior, stabbed Ojiwusi to death. Upon hearing the news, Ojiwusi’s mother promptly reported the incident to the police at the New Oko Oba Police Station. David was arrested to prevent any potential vigilante justice. The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department. Additional information revealed that David had previously attempted to assault his sister, but Ojiwusi and other neighbors rescued her. Ojiwusi’s wife, Fatima, demanded justice for her late husband and clarified that she was not present at the time of the crime. Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that a man named David had been arrested for stabbing Akeem Ojiwusi to death. The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect will be brought before the court. The police could not confirm whether drugs played a role in the incident.
