Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, provided details of the operation in a statement on Monday. He clarified that among those captured, one was an IPOB fighter, while the remaining eight were identified as brigands.

The troops, supported by local vigilante groups, diligently demolished the known hideouts of the IPOB members and confiscated multiple weapons.

The clearance operations, aimed at ensuring peace and security in South-East Nigeria, were conducted by troops from the 302 Regiment under the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with the Anambra Vigilante Group. Their primary targets were the fighters affiliated with the banned Indigenous People of Biafra and its armed counterpart, the Eastern Security Network. The successful raids took place in Oroma and Umuewelum Anam, Anambra West Local Government Area of Anambra State.

On the day of the operation, Sunday, July 23, 2023, the troops bravely stormed the identified camps to put an end to the illicit activities perpetuated by the fighters in the local communities.
