Tragedy strikes in Rivers as an oil spillage explosion claims the lives of two fishermen, leaving residents to rely on dead fish for sustenance. An explosion at Okari Jetty in Okrika Local Government Area caused a spill that severely harmed aquatic life. Fish were found dead in the water, causing worry about health and environmental effects. The explosion happened when a hose was mishandled during the off-loading of fuel at a depot in Port Harcourt. The blast was ignited later that evening by two fishermen who unknowingly set off the explosion while using lanterns during fishing.
