The Chairman of the Osun Amotekun Corps Board, Wale Abbass, has refuted claims that three people died during the ongoing training for new recruits at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Ede.
Speaking with journalists this Friday, Abbass clarified that no deaths occurred, and those who fainted during training were recovering.
He dismissed allegations that recruitment into the corps was politically influenced, stating the process was open, transparent, and merit-based.
According to Abbass, some individuals were decamped due to health issues or unauthorised entry into the camp, not political reasons. He assured that those who decamped for health reasons might be reconsidered in the future.
Abbass also addressed viral videos, including one showing a woman with a breastfeeding infant at the camp, emphasising the need to uphold strict training standards for safety.
He described recent allegations against the corps as an attempt to tarnish its reputation, urging the public to disregard misinformation.
Abbass reaffirmed the Osun Amotekun Corps’ commitment to professionalism, fairness, and the safety of all residents in the state.
