Anambra govt shuts down shrine over fraud

The Anambra State Government has closed a shrine in the Umuofor village, Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area, following multiple complaints from residents.

While leading operatives of Operation Udo Ga-Achi this Wednesday, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Security, Ken Emeakayi, said the move was in response to reports from locals.

Emeakayi stated that Igboegbueze’s business was illegal under Anambra State Homeland Security Laws, adding that properties linked to the operation have also been sealed.

The shrine, allegedly run by a self-proclaimed native doctor, Ekene Igboegbueze, who promises unsuspecting individuals super wealth, was sealed as part of the government’s crackdown on illegal spiritual operations.

The Director of Operations for Agunechemba Security Outfit, Chinenye Ihenko, warned youths against patronising fake native doctors and pastors.

Ihenko said the goal is to sanitise Anambra, saying that anything that contributes to the desecration of the state or aids criminal activities will be eliminated.

He urged young people to pursue legitimate ventures to avoid falling foul of the law.
