In recent news, the Anambra State police have successfully intercepted a three-man robbery gang that operates in the Agu-Awka area of the state. These criminals specialize in robbing individuals and forcibly taking away their belongings.

According to a press statement released on Sunday by DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state police spokesman, the suspects were apprehended after stealing a tricycle from its owner in Agu-Awka on Saturday night.

Following crucial information from the police in Awka, indicating that the robbers were fleeing towards Neni in the Anaocha Local Government Area, the police and local vigilantes set up an ambush, ultimately leading to the arrest of the suspects.

During the arrest, authorities recovered a Baretta pistol, a locally-made Chief Revolver pistol, 12 live rounds of ammunition, one expended round, and the stolen tricycle from the gang.

The suspects have been identified as Ebuka Madu, a 22-year-old male from Umunze, Anambra State; Chinedu Godwin, a 23-year-old male from Enugu State; and Udegbunam Chikezie, an 18-year-old male from Neni, Anambra.

The Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye, lauded the efforts of the police and assured the public that their trust and confidence in the command will not be taken for granted. Adeoye has also directed that the suspects be thoroughly investigated and subsequently arraigned in court.
