Delta Introduces Whistle-Blower Initiative to Ensure Quality Development

The Delta State Government has introduced a whistleblower policy to enable citizens to report substandard and poorly executed projects across the state.

The Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, announced it at a press briefing in Asaba, saying that the initiative aligns with the Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s commitment to ensuring value for money in public projects.

Residents can submit reports via text messages, WhatsApp, pictures, or videos to the dedicated whistleblower hotline: 09169978305.

“This initiative allows our people, who witness these projects firsthand, to alert the government about any substandard work,” Aniagwu stated.

He revealed that within 24 hours of launching the hotline, reports had already started coming in, and the government is taking them seriously.

“No contractor will be spared, regardless of political ties or personal relationships. Even if you share the same surname with the governor, you must deliver quality work,” he warned.

The commissioner assured whistleblowers that their identities would be protected, saying that the policy is designed to expose any contractor or official attempting to shortchange the state.

He also urged contractors to officially communicate any budget concerns rather than cutting corners.

Describing the whistleblower line as the hottest line in Delta State, Aniagwu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to taking swift action on reported cases.
