Eight Suspected Oil Thieves Arrested in Lagos State

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the arrest of eight individuals caught transporting suspected stolen petroleum products in Ajah Beach, Lagos State. The suspects were apprehended during a routine patrol conducted by the Anti-vandal unit of the agency’s state command.

According to a statement released by the NSCDC’s Public Relations Officer, DSC Abolurin Oluwaseun, the product in question is believed to be adulterated diesel. The suspects were found transporting a boat containing 13 industrial tanks, each filled with approximately a thousand liters of diesel, as well as 50 drums of 200 liters filled with diesel. They claimed to be transporting the products from Lekki Free Trade Zone to ‘Igbo Elejo’ on behalf of an individual named Mr. Pius, who is currently at large.

The eight suspects, identified as Joshua Zira Lukas, Gbenga Ifanaje, Omodoru Fayowole, Timilehin Ajonike, Ogunfuyi Smart Kolawole, Ademibo Omomowo, Ayo Agidi Ogun, and Ijitola Ilemobayo, have been taken into custody. The State Commandant, Usman Ishaq Alfadarai, has ordered the Intelligence and Investigation Department to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. The suspects will be formally charged after the investigation is concluded.
