The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old man, Olajobi Taiwo, for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued this Thursday in Ado Ekiti. He revealed that the crime was allegedly committed alongside an accomplice, who is currently at large.
According to Abutu, Taiwo was apprehended by officers from the Divisional Police Headquarters, Oke Ila, Ado Ekiti, on March 7, 2025, around 11:40 a.m.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the victim had fled her home for fear of being punished by her mother for wrongdoing. She was later lured by the two suspects to their room, where they allegedly forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.
Abutu stated that the case has been transferred to the Gender-Based Violence Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department at the State Headquarters for further investigation.
The police spokesperson also issued a warning to residents, urging them to remain law-abiding and desist from sexual crimes and other criminal acts. He assured that anyone found guilty of such offenses would face the full force of the law.
