A tragic fire outbreak has claimed the lives of a middle-aged woman and her two children at Rainbow Street, Onipakala Junction, off Adeyemi Road in Ondo town, Ondo State.
The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed it in a statement saying that the victims’ remains had been deposited at the mortuary.
The cause of the fire remains unknown as of Monday, but the victims—identified as Bukola (16) and Ife (11)—were reportedly burnt beyond recognition. The inferno, which lasted several hours, completely destroyed their home.
A community source revealed that efforts to save the victims were unsuccessful due to the absence of the state fire service. “We called for help, but we were told there was no water or chemicals to put out the fire,” the source lamented.
