In a bid to address the ongoing security challenges in Zamfara State, Governor Dauda Lawal has successfully concluded arrangements with security chiefs in Abuja. A press statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Broadcast and Public Affairs, Mustapha Jafarau Kaura, revealed that Governor Lawal recently held meetings with top security officials.
The statement disclosed that Governor Lawal engaged in productive discussions with key security personnel, including the National Security Adviser to the President, Nuhu Ribadu, the Chief of Defense Staff, Major General Christopher Musa, and the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Torfeed Lagbaja. The aim of these discussions is to find innovative solutions to the longstanding security challenges faced by the state, using both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches.
Furthermore, Governor Lawal made significant strides on the economic front. He met with the European Commission Ambassador to Nigeria, Miss Emenuela Isopi, as well as World Bank officials and representatives from the Islamic Bank in Nigeria. These engagements sought to garner support and cooperation from international monetary agencies to invest substantially in Zamfara State. The areas of focus for these investments include girl child education, rural water supply, healthcare delivery systems, and other relevant sectors.
To further mobilize financial support for Zamfara State, Governor Lawal traveled to London alongside influential Nigerians to attend the Annual International Polo tournament organized by Access Bank holdings. During this event, an appeal fund was launched to cater for the education of underprivileged individuals in Northern Nigeria. Fortunately, the state was able to secure inclusion in this initiative.
With Governor Lawal’s extensive consultations, both nationally and internationally, as well as his unprecedented acceptance by high-level security chiefs and international development agencies, it is anticipated that the state’s situation will soon witness a positive change. These efforts align with the rescue mission agenda of the present administration in Zamfara State, and there is hope that this collaboration will lead to improved security and socioeconomic development in the state.
