Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, has stressed the need for enhanced collaboration among security agencies to uphold his administration’s zero-tolerance policy on crime across the state.
Ododo made it known during a meeting with local government chairmen, members of the state’s vigilante service, and professional hunters at the Government House in Lokoja this Monday.
He said local government chairmen, community leaders, and security operatives must work together to effectively tackle crime and criminality in the state as well as create a secure atmosphere for citizens.
At the end of the meeting, the Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area and leader of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria in Kogi State, Tosin Olokun, highlighted the significance of the governor’s engagement with local security forces.
He described it as a vital step toward bolstering grassroots security efforts, particularly in remote areas where conventional security forces have limited reach.
Recall that the Kogi State government recently restructured the vigilante service and professional hunters, making them key players in maintaining security at the grassroots level.
The administration has also introduced an improved welfare package to address operational challenges faced by security personnel in the state.
