NAFDAC Seals Three Warehouses in Ekiti

The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has sealed three major raw food warehouses in Ado Ekiti for illegal rebagging of rice.

The state coordinator, Mrs. Stella Dosumu, said the warehouses were closed for serious infractions aimed at deceiving unsuspecting consumers.

According to Dosumu, the enforcement followed a tip-off about the fraudulent activities. Upon investigation, NAFDAC officials discovered bales of empty branded rice bags, sewing and sealing machines, and rebagged rice of various brands. The managers refused to disclose the source of the rice, raising concerns about its safety and quality.

NAFDAC’s Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, warned that there would be no hiding place for “merchants of death” trading in regulated products illegally. She emphasized the agency’s commitment to protecting public health.

Samples of the rebagged rice have been sent for laboratory testing, while the warehouses remain sealed pending further action.
