NDLEA Arrests Artist Manager and Businessman for Drug Distribution in Lagos Nightclubs
In a recent operation, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended an artiste manager based in Lekki and an Ikoyi businessman who are accused of specializing in supplying illicit drugs to high-end night clubs and lounges in the Lekki and other areas of Lagos State.
The arrests were made following intelligence reports about a shipment of Colorado, a potent synthetic strain of cannabis, arriving from Los Angeles, United States.
NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, announced the development on Sunday, stating that Oseni Babatunde, also known as Papalampa, was the first suspect to be arrested at his residence on Ope Daniel Taiwo Street, Lekki. This occurred when the consignment arrived on July 23.
“During a preliminary interview with the suspect, he confessed that he started the illicit trade three years ago and has been supplying patrons of clubs and lounges in Lekki and Lagos Island, including Quilox, Silver Fox, DNA, and Hotbox,” Babafemi disclosed.
Furthermore, Babatunde revealed that, in addition to his drug business, he also organized events for artists both within and outside Nigeria.
Meanwhile, NDLEA operatives intercepted a total of 10 parcels of Colorado, weighing 2.50kgs each. These parcels were concealed in large tins of coffee and duvets that were linked to Babatunde. The interception took place at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja.
Following the arrest, operatives conducted a search of Babatunde’s residence where they discovered additional quantities of the same substance, a digital weighing scale, and various other drug-related items.
