Canadian police have arrested 31-year-old Nigerian Adimabua Chukwuka for first-degree murder in connection with the death of 60-year-old Mario Ferreira, a homeless man.
Ferreira was found dead near the University of Toronto campus early Thursday morning. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Chukwuka attacking him with debris, possibly from a dumpster or construction site, while he lay on a bench around 5:20 a.m.
Authorities revealed Chukwuka has a history of violent offences dating back nearly a decade. In 2014, he faced multiple charges, including attempted murder and aggravated assault, following multiple stabbings.
In 2022, he was charged again for allegedly robbing a man at knifepoint and stabbing another in a separate incident.
The investigation into Ferreira’s death is ongoing, and the outcome of Chukwuka’s previous cases remains unclear.
