Nigerian Military Kills 58 Terrorists, Rescues 16 Hostages in North West Operations

The Nigerian military has eliminated 58 terrorists, arrested 11 others, and rescued 16 kidnapped victims in a series of offensives conducted between February 1 and 12, 2025. 

The Defence Headquarters made this known in a media briefing this Thursday, saying that troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA launched coordinated attacks across Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kebbi states, targeting terrorist strongholds and disrupting insurgent networks. 

The DHQ said the notorious terrorist leader, Kachalla Mudi, and two others surrendered in Kaduna State, handing over weapons, including a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) and an AK-47 rifle.

The statement also read that troops also engaged insurgents in multiple clashes, recovering a large cache of arms and ammunition. 

Additionally, intelligence-led operations led to the arrest of high-profile terrorist kingpin Muhada Muhammadu, also known as Yellow, along with four associates, across Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kebbi states.

The military mentioned that the sum of ₦2,451,820, 31 AK-47 rifles, nine fabricated rifles, two GPMGs, 252 chain links of 12.7mm ammunition, 558 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 12 magazines, five Baofeng radios, 13 motorcycles, and 11 mobile phones were recovered.

The Defence Headquarters reaffirmed the military’s commitment to regional security and urged citizens to provide timely intelligence to support ongoing operations.
