
The Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the tragic shooting of a hunter, Taiwo Bolugbe, during a group hunting expedition in Ajinawo, Yewa North Local Government Area.
According to police spokesperson Omolola Odutola, Bolugbe and five other hunters were hunting near Dangote Cement Company, Ibese, around 3 p.m. on Sunday when his Dane gun accidentally discharged while retrieving a hunted animal. The shot struck him in the neck and lower jaw, leading to his death despite efforts to save him.
The police were notified at 6:30 p.m., and the five other hunters have been arrested for questioning. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, where statements will be reviewed to determine any culpability.
The command urged the public to exercise caution while handling firearms to prevent similar tragedies.
