The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the appointment of new Commissioners of Police for the Taraba and Anambra State Commands.
The PSC spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, revealed it in a statement this Wednesday on behalf of the commission’s chairman, Hashimu Argungu, urging the newly appointed commissioners to settle into their new roles promptly to prevent any security lapses.
The commission appointed Chukwudi Ariekpere from Abia State as the new Commissioner of Police for Taraba State, replacing Peter Oparah.
Similarly, Livingstein Orutugu from Bayelsa State takes over as Commissioner of Police for Anambra State, succeeding Obong Nnache Itam.
Argungu charged the new commissioners with demonstrating dedication and commitment to their roles, emphasising the need to intensify efforts against banditry and other criminal activities across the country.
“The new commissioners should quickly settle into their duty posts and ensure there is no gap that may lead to a breakdown of law and order,” the statement read.
He further assured that the commission would closely monitor their performance and provide necessary support to facilitate their success in their new assignments.
The PSC has communicated its decision to the Inspector General of Police for immediate implementation.
