Student kills two in knife attack at Slovak school

A student has killed two people and wounded another in a knife attack at a secondary school in northeastern Slovakia this Thursday.

An official from Slovakia’s emergency service, Danka Capakova confirmed the incident to newsmen saying that two people have died, while one person has been transported to hospital.

He said the emergency service sent several ambulance crews to the Spisska Stara Ves grammar school before 13:00 WAT (1200 GMT) today.

The police who identified the attacker as an 18-year-old student said he was detained shortly after he attacked a female teacher and two fellow students.

The attack took place in the town of Spisska Stara Ves near Slovakia’s border with Poland, around 280 kilometres (175 miles) northeast of the capital Bratislava.

Local media said the student had moved to the grammar school from another school in the nearby town of Kezmarok after being expelled for threatening to attack fellow students.
