Terrorists Launch Attack in Zamfara, Shoot 1 and Abduct 10 in Talata Mafara Town
In a disturbing incident, suspected terrorists have reportedly attacked Talata Mafara town in Zamfara State, Northwest Nigeria. The attack took place on Wednesday night around 11:47 p.m., according to eyewitness Ibrahim Murtala.
Armed with sophisticated weapons, the terrorists targeted the residence of Kabiru Classic, a former member of the House of Representatives representing Talata Mafara and Anka Federal Constituency. However, they were unable to enter the house as residents had spotted them attempting to breach the perimeter fence.
Initially mistaken for visitors due to their white attire, it was soon discovered that the individuals were in fact terrorists carrying heavily armed firearms. Murtala recounted how they proceeded to go from house to house, forcibly taking anyone who came outside.
During their rampage, the terrorists managed to abduct nine construction workers and one staff member of the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDC). Additionally, one person was shot in the leg and is currently receiving medical treatment. Fortunately, three of the abducted individuals were able to escape captivity.
The distressed residents promptly alerted the military, who swiftly responded to the scene. Regrettably, the terrorists had already fled by the time the troops arrived. Another witness revealed that the terrorists had been firing indiscriminately from various locations within the town.
Nevertheless, the intervention of the troops helped restore calm and normalcy in the area. Zamfara State has unfortunately become a hotbed for violent terrorist attacks, killings, and abductions of innocent citizens. Despite ongoing efforts by the military to eliminate these threats and restore peace, the situation remains precarious.
