Three Policemen Feared Dead at Delta, Ondo Checkpoints

Tragedy struck at a checkpoint along the Ughelli-Asaba Road in Delta State as two policemen from the Dragon Patrol Team were allegedly shot and killed by unknown gunmen. The incident took place near the Oleh roundabout on Sunday, though the exact circumstances surrounding the attack remain unclear. Eyewitnesses reported that while they could not confirm the deaths of the policemen, they witnessed the patrol van being set ablaze. Another police vehicle arrived at the scene to transport the victims, according to accounts from those present.

Attempts to obtain comments from DSP Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer Command, were unsuccessful at the time of reporting. The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing.

In a separate development, the Ondo State Police Command has announced the arrest of a driver involved in the death of a policeman at a checkpoint along the Benin-Owo Expressway in the Ifon area of Ose Local Government Area. Contrary to initial reports linking the incident to suspected kidnappers, the police clarified that the driver was apprehended by the Nigerian Army in Sobe, Edo State. Further details regarding the circumstances of the incident have not yet been disclosed.
