Two people have been arrested for allegedly illegally demolishing an N800 million Lagos property.
Falilat Oluwayemisi and Adeshina Balogun, both of Ikeja, have appeared in court over the alleged unlawful destruction of a four-story structure worth N800 million.
Oluwayemisi and Balogun are charged with conspiracy and unlawful demolition of a structure belonging to Hakeem Olawuyi, a Lagos developer.
SP Josephine Ikhayere, standing in for Insp. Ajayi Emmanuel informed the court that the accused colluded with others still at large on April 1 to conduct the crime.
According to Ikhayere, the defendants used thugs armed with dangerous weapons to forcibly remove the tenants and demolish the four-story structure.
She stated that the building included 12 two-bedroom flats, four self-contained apartments, and 24 lock-up stores and was located at Number 20a, Church Street, Isale-Eko, Idumota region of Lagos Island.
Ikhayere stated that the entire value of the things lost during the demolition belonged to Olawuyi of Dapo Ola Construction Company and was valued at N800 million.
She informed the court that the offenses violated the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015.
